Here’s a quick demo of how the convertible living space works in ProcessHouse, my tiny house on wheels.

This is what the couch looks like in daytime mode. It’s super comfy, and gives you a perfect view of the fireplace and the view out the windows, with plenty of extra floor space to stretch out and exercise. It comfortably fits 3 people across, and if you’re watching a movie and need a bit of extra seating, the step turns over to reveal a cushion.

When I have guests over, the couch rolls in a bit to allow for a more upright posture and the table comes down to turn this space into a cozy dinette, with the ottomans serving as additional seating.

The table has a built in sliding mechanism, allowing it to be moved closer or further away from the couch as needed.

At night, the couch rolls out from under the kitchen to reveal a queen-sized bed, and the couch back becomes a headboard. I store my bedding and blankets in the ottomans.

The step acts as a night stand where I can charge my phone and watch, and the light and ceiling fan controls are always at my fingertips.

Hey there, I wanted to show you this cool space-saving folding desk I designed for my tiny house to give myself a more ergonomic workspace since moving between the couch and the kitchen barstool just wasn’t cutting it anymore.

So here it is folded down. It’s very clean and unobtrusive with no visible hardware and it sticks out just about an inch and a half from the wall.

To set it up, you just pull up, and everything pretty much falls into place with just a little help to get it situated at the full 90 degree angle.

It’s fastened through the backing board to the studs in the wall with just 4 screws and is quite sturdy.

To fold it down again, all you do is lift up a little on the desk, lift the angle braces, and drop it down. It’s sort of like origami.

The whole project came out around $100 including the pine project panel, stainless steel piano hinge, and water-based polyurethane finish

There’s nothing quite like settling in with some popcorn on a cold Winter night. What would you watch in this cozy tiny movie theater on wheels?

Maybe not.

I just discovered the hard way that wheel covers may actually do more harm than good. While it’s important to protect your tires from the sun’s UV rays, I discovered that my wheel covers were providing a perfect shelter and habitat for mice to take up residence in my wheel rims.

Apparently mouse pee is highly corrosive to steel.

In addition to the corrosive mouse urine, the covers may have been trapping moisture. Even though I had sprayed Blaster Surface Shield on the wheels before covering them and was checking tire pressure once or twice a year, somehow I missed that the paint was beginning to peel off of my rims. I caught it before things got too bad (the rim pictured here was the worst of the 6), but once corrosion starts it’s tough to stop.

I spent a few hours carefully cleaning all 6 wheels, degreasing, and scraping off all the loose paint I could find. Then I brushed on a liberal coat of Fluid Film to prevent the rust from spreading any further, at least until I can do a more thorough refinishing. My plan moving forward is to ditch the wheel covers and just apply 303 Tire Balm & Protectant for UV protection. I’m located in a fairly shady area, so I think this will be sufficient.

Hopefully this can save someone else the repeating the same mistake I did.

I’m proud of my wheels anyway—might as well show them off!
